Smiles for Your Saturday

How is it that Wally loves to swim, loves to have buckets of water thrown on him, goes totally nutty with happiness when you squirt him with the hose, yet he hides in his doghouse if he has the slightest inkling that it might be bath time?  Honestly, we have to barricade the doghouse door, and we dare not let him see the shampoo bottle until the last minute when we've got a good hold on him.  He’s wise to the preparations – towels, rain pants and boots, and the “ho hum, nothing’s going on, just another day in the backyard” act we put on.  The funny thing is, once he realizes he has no choice in the matter he’s really quite okay with it.

Happy, even.

I’m such a good boy.  I was just kidding with that business in the doghouse.

Yes, he is a very good boy, and he hears that from us countless times each day.  We love our Wally!  Have a happy weekend!

  5. What a good boy Wally is...MY poor Nellie needs a bath...can I send her over?? I remember when we still had our "Nick" girl, we had been traveling for 11 hours, and she couldn't wait to get out of the car, we opened the door she jumped out and right into a skunk...oh my, just what we needed after 11 hours of on the road. So it even gets better, we had to bath her right away, Greg was holding her and she decided she had had enough and shook all that stinky water off, right onto Greg.....we worked at the same place but different buildings (thank goodness) and as soon as I would open the door to his building I would smell skunk...LOL...so sorry for the rest of the employees....memories...what would we do without them!!!!!

  7. I can hear him all the way down here, Leslie, "WHAT! It's that time already!??? IT CAN'T BE! Tell me it isn't so! Why should I have to endure such torture? I just got my fur and scent the way I like it and Mom and Dad do THIS!" hahaha Very cute. hugs, de

  8. I just had to laugh reading this, we too have to watch how we get the towels out of the cupboard and take them to the sink and get the sink prepared with her special shampoo from the vet for washing, she use to have accidents every time I went to pick her up for a bath but at least that has stopped..LOL Have a great weekend!

  10. This made me smile. Wally will be smelling gorgeous now, where was LuLu? Is she better at hiding from soapy bubbles? lol. I'm impressed, no bribery involved in getting him to take his bath like this either! Though, I'm sure he was fussed over after his ordeal.
Our Amy & Piper don't particularly like bath time but their wet weather walks get them so dirty. We will need to give them a bath soon too but our garden is so squelchy and muddy, it would be a pointless exercise just now. Roll on the Spring and drier weather. I have still been popping in from time to time sorry for the silence for so long. Life is so busy. Loving your cards too Leslie

  11. Oh My,,,! You have bath time down to a science I see.... I really believe Wally loves his bath and loves the attention before and during for sure... Our Beagle is the same way, if she see the towels and her shampoo coming out, she is on the hide. But after we start the bath all is good and she loves it too... Wally is lucky to have a Daddy to take care of him like that!!!!

  12. I needed a smile this morning! This certainly did the trick! It's snowing like crazy here & is supposed to continue all day. Isn't it funny how they know what we are doing no matter how we try to hide it? I'm glad you have boots & rain pants! I imagine it gets pretty wet before you are finished! What a sweetie he is to hold still for you! Have a great weekend!

  13. I always look forward to Saturdays and Wally and Lulu. The goldies always start my day off with a cheer and a chuckle. How can anyone resist and not love them. Their good cheer and companionship is priceless. Now to go and hug my Charly. Thanks so much for sharing your furry friends.

  14. How funny! It's uncanny how they just seem to "know" when bath time is approaching. So happy Wally adjusts once he get's into the bath. - You should try bathing a cat!

Not sure which is more expressive – your written words or Wally’s face? Both say it all and we get the picture. Very funny in a very sweet way.

  21. Dumb dogs, right! If you say bath to ours, she hides under the bed. If she begs, we say "banana" -- she doesn't like bananas.

  22. Oh, I love your dogs - they are so gorgeous! Golden Retrievers have such a wonderful nature. Our old dog who was a Koolie would do exactly the same thing as soon as she had any inkling that it was bathtime. She would be well-behaved during her bath but look very unhappy - and then when it was finished, she would bound around the garden in absolute joy. It never ceased to put a smile on our face :-)

Thanks for visiting my blog and for your lovely comments about my dog birthday card - they made my day :-D
