It's Amazing Out There

Well, hello!  It's about time for an update of Goldens and Garden.  We had Wally and LuLu out at the sand dunes last Wednesday.  The particular spot we frequent allows no motorized vehicles, so it's a perfect paradise for the likes of us.  I'm always a little surprised that we have the entire massive area to ourselves when we go.  What a great place it would be to take your kids!  Where are they?

The landscape out there is amazing this year.  There's water everywhere...

And Wally and LuLu do love the water.

Everywhere you look -- more water...

And dunes, of course...

And wildflowers -- Lupine, compact, but thriving in the sand...

Scotch Broom, struggling to survive underwater...

Some spots are shallow...

But most are deep enough for a good swim.  Here's Wally enjoying the moment:

Just a couple more pics...  Wooly LuLu:

And long and lean Wally with The World's Best Dog Dad (who had just sneaked him a treat.):

We trekked miles and miles out there and had two exhausted puppies when we returned home, but what a good time we had.  Such a great place for Golden Retrievers and anyone who marvels over nature.  Hope you enjoyed!  Have yourself a happy week!

  1. What a gorgeous area you have to enjoy Leslie. Bill and I would be in heaven in a place like this, as you know how much we love to hike and enjoy the outdoors. A perfect place for Wally & Lulu to explore. Thanks so much for sharing another one of your outings. This post brings a smile to my face! Have yourself a 'happy' week as well.

  3. You have the most precious dogs. But they sure like your husband. I suppose they need baths when they get home to get the sands out of them. The spot you went to is beautiful! Very fortunate to live so close to these beautiful spots. Have not seen any of your cards lately and you are such a wonderful card maker. Marcie

  4. Thank you for the visit to the dunes. I have never seen so much water in our dunes. They have always been one of our very favorite places to take our kids and grandkids, especially the areas closed to motorized vehicles. Beautiful photos Leslie of the your kids and daddy Rich! TFS my friend. We were gardening, but got even to hot for that in the shade. So sat under the trees with fruit smoothies and cooled off. Hugs...
