To Lake Simtusus and Back, Vol. 2

Hello again!  We're back to Lake Simtusus today.  I hope you'll enjoy today's trip!

Trying to narrow down the pictures somewhat... Here's Wally sightseeing from the pontoon boat:

We all enjoyed the ride and the cool breeze.  We took a picnic lunch and dog treats along with us.  What an awesome day!

We are about to enter The Land that Time Forgot.  See that rock wall up ahead?  Rich said they keep King Kong back there.

This land was formed in the furious years of volcanic eruptions and earth-heaving quakes.  Ash flow ahead:

Just me and LuLu:

Our Wally again.  He looks a little scruffy and I think that's one of the things I like about this picture.  I still see the puppy in him.  He turned 9 years old on June 19th.  Love.

Finishing up with a couple of photos from a higher vantage point.  I believe that's Mt. Jefferson in the background.  The lake at this end is green with algae, the result of agricultural run off.  I guess algae love all that fertilizer.

Pictured below is the busier end of the lake, looking down at a different park.

I have a lot more scenery pictures, but this is probably enough for the blog.  I'll come back soon with Wally and LuLu and the garden.  Glad we could visit!

  3. How incredible your photos are - but more, I am drooling at Mother Nature's constant glory being unearthed (literally) in so many ways! From King Kong's fort, to the ash slide, and the amazing water colors - all so beautiful! Thank you for sharing your day with us, Leslie. Hard to believe Wally is already 9. They teach us how to grow older gracefully, and remember the youth in our hearts with a healthy outlook, don't they? In FL we have a huge problem of fertilizer run off into the aquifer, ponds, rivers, lakes and Gulf of Mexico. It causes algae blooms that deplete the water of oxygen, killing all the marine life except algae. The sad thing is that it is now harming the Manatees' habitat. Hope someone can soon come up with a better farming technique - like the olden days of organic farming! DUHHHH! (forgive me, I digress LOL) thank you for sharing the glorious views, Leslie. It looks like a marvelous day! xx

  4. Don't you just love the high desert country of Central and Eastern Oregon? So different from our lush Southwestern Oregon, but so beautiful in its own way! TFS all your wonderful photos of the lake, surrounding area...King Kong's dam and of course the kids. Loved the photos of you and Rich with the kids too:-) Hug...

  16. Gorgeous photos. It looks so peaceful there. I bet it's great being out on the lake without any other speedboats causing a lot of noise. Wally and Lulu seem to really enjoy the ride.

I know what you mean about it being so lovely.... we have a pontoon also and our dog Belle just LOVES it.... but she is not as nice as your babies! Here in Fl everything is FLAT... not much in hills around our lake, but it's still FUN.
    Again thanks for sharing!!!
