Wally and LuLu are in the prime of their lives – healthy, vigorous, and very happy.
I’m thinking today of a friend’s family dog, Olivia, also a Golden Retriever, who passed on Thursday. She was well loved and had a good life, and we know it’s natural for a dog’s life to be relatively short, but it still seems unfair when they’re so good. My heart hurts for Olivia’s family’s, bless their hearts. I thought my dedication to Wally and LuLu’s happiness could not be more sincere, but it has just stepped up a notch. I need to reciprocate that goodness, to let it spread out around me, to be thankful for every moment and for how they’ve enriched my life and filled my heart. Thank you for being here with us today. Love.
Oh Leslie that is so sad, I am so sorry for your friends loss. I agree they are so good and it seems so unfair. Hug these fur balls for me and enjoy the day with them. Hugs....
ReplyDeleteThank you, Leslie. Love seeing the photos of your kids. Beautiful animals. My daughter is still unable to talk about Olivia. Our hearts are sad and yet very thankful that we were blessed to have such a sweet spirit with us for 10 years. We have lots and lots of wonderful memories.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and heartfelt words Leslie. The lessons of love they bestow on human kind are profoundly moving - to love and be loved is all they do or ask. Beautiful photo's today.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your friends loss, it's very sad to have to let them go.
ReplyDeleteGive your sweet babies a big hug for me! They are so adorable, and they do love romping around in the water. Thanks for sharing with us! :))
It's so sad to lose a pet especially when they are so much part of the family. I'm sure you'll have Wally and Lulu for many happy years yet Leslie. Thank you for sharing these wonderful pictures with us.
ReplyDeleteYou forgot to include "and beautiful"! Goldens are such wonderful members of our families, and when one passes, it is felt by all. So sorry to hear of Olivia's passing but speaking from too much experience, the only thing that helps is the love of another golden.
ReplyDeleteAwe! They look like they're having a blast! Sorry to hear about the passing of your friends golden. It's always hard to let them go!
ReplyDeleteYou can tell that your doggies are loved Leslie!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear of Olivia's passing. Time passes so quickly and it hits us so hard when we loose our wonderful fur children. I remember when Wally was a pup you posted a photo of Olivia visiting. She was a beautiful girl, I'm so sad for your friends loss, and know the heartache they'll be going through.
ReplyDeleteYour two look like they're having fun in the water. Your blogs are a lovely way to keep your memories fresh and watch your babies grow into the beautiful goldens they are. Give them a hug from me. Alexandra x
Oh, this has brought a tear to my eye. I hate to hear of animals dying, even though it is natural. It just breaks my heart. Reminds me of my beautiful Smoat.
ReplyDeleteI feel for the family that has lost a very important member of their family..just yesterday I ran into my exhusbands wife, she had just gotten back from putting her dog down, I was gracious enough to give her a big hug and felt so bad for her....my Nellie will be 8 this year.....I keep hoping she will have a long life...I enjoy every moment with her....so fun seeing yoour babies having such a great time!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is so sad when we lose one of our furry babies. I just went through that recently with one of my kitties who was only 11. Quite unexpected. She was not an only cat, so I do have the others to keep me company and they have gotten more so since Reggie left us. Maggie Mae loves to sit up on my desk when I'm at my computer and will try to slip over to my shoulder whenever she can.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about the passing of your friend's golden. Our furry animals are such an important part of our families who bring us unconditional love. It's so hard when one has to let go of them as they wait at the rainbow bridge for all of us. We need to treasure every day we have with our furry children. It's so obvious how much Wally and LuLu are loved by you. It think it's awesome that you share all that love with all of us on their blog.

You "get" her loss all too well. Way to live in the moment and enjoy your precious ones. Time passes all too quickly with our special animal friends,eh? I love all the pics you take of them and they are so lucky to be with you! Way to be Leslie!
ReplyDeleteWhat a poignant commentary today. It gives us pause for thought on just how lucky humanoids are to have our four-legged best friends. They nourish us emotionally and we grieve deeply when they leave us.
ReplyDeleteA long time ago I read this poem. It was given to a minister mourning for his beloved dog. I hope I’m not out of line in printing it here.
“I explained to St. Peter, I’d rather stay here, outside the pearly gate.
I won’t be a nuisance, I won’t even bark, I’ll be very patient and wait.
I’ll be here, chewing on a celestial bone, no matter how long you may be.
I’d miss you so much, if I went in alone,it wouldn’t be heaven for me.”
Your beautiful animals are lucky to be in your loving hands. And I understand well that it’s a two way street. My condolences to Olivia's family.
So sorry to hear of Olivia's passing. Please send my condolances. The kids always look like they are having so much fun in the water!!!
ReplyDeleteThese photos and your words always help me enjoy the day more. Your animals are so sweet. We are truly lucky to have animals to keep us company and give us unconditional love.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. Whatever time you are granted with your fur babies would never be long enough. They really are a special blessing that we should cherish every single day.
ReplyDeleteMy friend just had to put her dog down yesterday, when you have had a companion as loyal as the guys are to us for 14 years it is so hard to just let them go, I know what you mean about appreciating the time we have with them!
ReplyDeleteOh so sorry to hear of your friends loss of their beloved dog, Olivia. Your Wally & Lulu are as precious as ever. So happy they bring you so much happiness.
ReplyDeleteLeslie, I am so sorry to hear about your friends' loss. Animals love us so unconditionally, that it isn't fair they don't have longer lives. No judgement, no talking back, just pure, honest, heartfelt love. NO matter what we say or do. I woul be lost without my pets (I've had dogs and now have a cat) and she's by my side every minute of the day. I so love your sharing Wally and Lulu with us. They are so beautiful, and it makes my heart sing and my eyes smile, each and every time you share them with us. Hugs and Blessings to your friend.
ReplyDeleteOh they are both just the Sweetest Ever Miss Leslie! Love seeing Wally & Lulu having so much fun!! So sorry to hear of Olivia's passing.. My heart goes out to her family..
ReplyDeleteSending prayers and big Hugs
Shannon
What great pictures - Wally and Lulu are having so much fun! So sorry to hear about Olivia's death. I remember you posting her picture. It is always hard to lose a member of your family. The girls lost one of their pets this summer and it is still hard for them to talk about it. Cherished memories will definitely be appreciated down the road when its not so hard to talk about it. Please send along our thoughts.
ReplyDeleteJust got caught up on your babies!! Do you have a lake on
ReplyDeleteyour property? Being Goldens they do love the water. They are so
very pretty - they look like they get a bath everyday! I loved
the picture where the blanket was tossed on LuLu - so precioue.
Yes it is so sad that dogs cannot live longer - its' just not fair!
The dog is the only thing that loves you unconditionly and more than
it does itself.
So sorry to hear of your friends losing their beloved Golden. Another reminder of how precious everyday with family, friends and our pets should be. TFS
