Remembering Marvin–Feb. 7, 2009

On Thursday, February 5th, we buried Marvin right here in one of his favorite garden spots. I can hardly begin to tell you how sad I am about that.

I’m telling myself all the usual things, like “he had a good life; he was well loved; we had many sweet years together.” But I miss him. I miss him, soft and purring, curled in the crook of my arm when I go to sleep at night. If Marvin had to choose between his next meal and his next hug, he’d take the hug. He loved to be hugged. Poor Marvin. I loved him and I miss him terribly.

It Just Doesn’t Matter–Jan. 14, 2009

When I’m Marvin’s age, will I suffer indignities with such patient resolve?

Poor, tolerant Marvin. I don’t know how long he walked around with this leaf skeleton stuck to his nose before he showed up at the patio door. Perhaps he noticed it when he emerged from his woodland critter path and thought, “Oh, they’ll love this…I’ll just leave it for their entertainment.” And we were quite entertained as he went about his usual kitty activities, feigning indifference — “What leaf? I don’t see a leaf.”

I’m sure he won’t mind my sharing the photo. Marvin’s got a sense of humor, even though I realize he does not look amused.

I got such a smile out of this photo, I thought maybe you might enjoy it, too. Have a great day!
