I don’t think I’ve ever seen the hydrangea leaves turn quite this color before, but they are as pretty in their own way as the flowers ever were.
Below is a bloom on the same plant at the same time. It’s been resting on the path as is for weeks, as though suspended in time, preserved in this state of perpetual beauty by the cooler weather. I’m wondering when it will turn.
Have a lovely day!
Stunning photos Leslie. Beautiful colours - the purple tones are so vibrant and the tones of colours in the leaves in the first photo are amazing. You are so lucky to still have such beautiful blooms around. Have a wonderful day, and thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOh Wow that is beautiful color in those leaves, is this a recent picture? All of our plants have died, we have had major frosts. It would be nice to still be able to see such lovely color!
ReplyDeleteThese are absolutely gorgeous pictures Leslie, I hope you don't mind, I saved them to my computer, what gorgeous screen savers!
ReplyDeleteI just love hydrangeas, and they do not grow well here. I also was unaware the leaves changed, Leslie! This year, we purchased one hydrangea and potted it. It bloomed all summer in the pool area, and is now shedding its leaves. Our weather has been so strange, and it appears that new leaves are already trying to bud! YIKES! I do hope it makes it through the winter. Do you prune yours, or just leave it as "sticks" until spring time? Thank you for sharing! hugs, de
ReplyDeleteOurs have done the same, Leslie, and we live in Southern California. Perhaps something to do with our changing weather patterns as we haven't changed feeding regimens. Surely a treat! We so enjoy your beautiful garden and your beautiful babies...
ReplyDeleteThey are gorgeous. I want to plant some these bushes next year.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful! I can't imagine having such color in December!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Can't believe you have these gorgeous flowers blooming at this time of the year! I'm SO jealous!
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful flower Leslie. I wonder when it will turn too. The leaves are beautiful the same. I love your green thumb!
ReplyDeleteWow the color of those leaves was fabulous and that flower was gorgeous. Nothing like that blooming here at all right now.
