Just Checking In

Hello!  I haven't checked in here for a while so thought, perhaps, it was time.  I've been busy on my stamping blog, trying to get ahead for summer, but there's always the garden, as well.  We even went for a two day camping trip in May.  I've been remiss... I don't have a lot of great pictures from that trip, but I'll see what I can come up with for sharing later.  First, this and that around the garden...

My sweet LuLu... we recently learned she has arthritis in her left front leg.  She's only 7 years old, but Dr. thinks it's from an old injury which I can't recall, but dogs never complain.  He says her days of hard running are over.  Sniffy walks and swimming are okay.  We're making do, but I tell you my heart was broken.  With pain management she's doing okay for the time being.

My hydrangea out front is a particularly delicate color this year.  Last year the hydrangeas barely bloomed and one of them even rotted at the roots and had to be dug out.  It appears this is going to be a better year.

The white Foxglove is my favorite.  I'm never certain which ones will be which color.  I let them reseed, pull out those that pop up in inconvenient places and then it's come what may.  I was so happy to see the white this year.

One of several hostas I grow in pots:

A place to just sit:

Thank you for dropping in.  Wishing you a beautiful day!

  1. So sorry to hear about LuLu's diagnosis. She is still quite young but we must take what we are dealt with our fur babies. My Bella will be 7 in January and she is slowing down quite a bit. I let her go at her own pace and we haven't had any problems to date. Your garden is lovely and I always enjoy taking a walk with you there.

  4. What a lovely day in the garden, Leslie! Your variegated hosta is gorgeous (another plant that does not grow here) and such a lovely shade of lavender blue in your hydrangea! (also does not grow here). Oh Yes, and the amazing wait-til-you-see-what-color-I-am foxglove is breathtaking! (yep! you guessed it! also not grown here). Your foxgloves sound like my periwinkles and snapdragons! They reseed themselves, and I never know what color to expect! The snapdragons appear in January, and begin blooming in March, while the periwinkles are more year 'round unless we have a freeze. Sorry to hear about Lulu. Just like "old folks", our fur children also succumb to a variety of age-related boo boos. I'm glad it is nothing life threatening, and that she will continue adding lots of love and antics for the family to enjoy. Thanks for sharing the beauty of your ilfe, and wishing you a wonderful week-end! xx

  5. Leslie, I'm so sorry to hear about Lulu! I hope the pain remains minimal and with all your love she will continue to do well, just at a slower pace. I can visualize myself sitting in your garden absorbing all the beauty. Just breath taking. You have captured some lovely pictures Leslie of your blooms. Thanks so much for sharing today, and give Lulu a big hug!

  8. I'm sure Lulu will love her walks and swimming, dogs are so stoic but we need to manage their pain for them. She's such a pretty girl :)

  9. ALWAYS so nice to visit your beautiful gardens! Those white foxglove are gorgeous. I did have some purple ones on the side of the garage but when we had things relandscaped a few years back, they dug them all out 'sigh' and I've not replaced them (must do something about that). I don't think I've EVER seen the white but now I want them and my purple ones back. Thanks for always sharing such wonderful photos.

So sorry about Miss LuLu's issues! I bet she doesn't complain about her arthritis as much as I do mine! LOL I'm sure she still has lots of spunk and gives Wally a run for his money! LOL Have a wonderful day and thanks again!

  10. I'm always so happy to see your pictures! I'm still waiting for our hydrangeas to bloom. Love the color. Joe planted a few annuals to plug some holes. We have had to dig up some bushes after a very rough winter and remulch. Hoping to get most of the work done before it gets too hot. So sorry to hear about Lulu. She is such a beauty. I'm sure she will have excellent care. My daughter's lab is 12 years old and has to take some medicine for her arthritus. She still manages to be by Jennifer side most of the time.

  11. So sorry Lulu has arthritis so young, but she will love her swims and sniffy walks. Your gardens are so gorgeous. We have lots of foxgloves in bloom too, but no white ones. We did get seeds last fall from a large patch of whites up on the ridge behind us and Denny broadcast the seeds this early Spring. Maybe next year we will have a few whites:-) You never know from year to year what gorgeous beauties appear in our flower gardens:-) Love that....Take care and enjoy the love and beauty that surrounds you, my dear friend. Hugs...

  13. Oh poor Lulu, like you said since they can't tell you anything you never know when something may happen if they don't show signs, well I am sure she will be happy with sniffy walks and swimming :) I love the softness of those hydrangeas and the foxglove is so pretty all dressed in white. Love your little sitting area!

  17. I'm sorry Lulu is having to slow down. Arthritis in our little loved ones can be such a hard thing but there are some drugs to help her along and a bit of a slow down will help. Thinking of you!
