Cherry Blossom Time

Still staying home and loving it on a day like this!  The cherry tree is just coming into bloom at our house.  If you like pink, it doesn't get much prettier than a branch of ruffly double cherry blossoms.

It's a half and half tree -- half pink, half white.  The white shows first, then for a spell it's pink and white at the same time.

Wet LuLu laying in its shade.

Wet Wally squinty eyed in the sun.

We'd all had a busy day working outside.  Well... Rich and I worked... Wally and LuLu made the work more fun.  In these pictures they were ready to call it a day.

Through a tangle of smoke tree branches just starting to bud you can see how the dogs got wet.  They especially enjoy helping Rich play with the hose.  There's our poor motor home just sitting there.  Not sure when or if we'll get to do this year's road trip.

We're doing okay and I hope you are, too.  I watch the news and know how lucky we are.  Take care, friends.

  1. The cherry blossom looks beautiful but afraid I can't see any of the other pics just a blank square with an inner circle and a line through?

  2. Hi, Leslie! Your cherry blossoms look as though they are posing deliberately just for your camera! How magical that you hold such intense love from Nature. (giggle). Our Golden always enjoyed the sprinkler and hose as well - a different type of sprinkler for different games! LOL Leslie, for some reason, 5 of your photos did not show up. When you go into the draft portion of your blog post, try clicking on REVERT TO DRAFT. Then click SAVE. Then look at the draft through the PREVIEW option. If it looks ok, it should be good to go and you can republish it. WAHHHHH I wanna see the other photos! LOL

  3. Love the cherry tree with its beautiful blossoms. I do love some cherries. How fun to have your own tree full. I've never heard of a "smoke" tree. Glad to see that Wally and Lulu are having fun with Rich. Sorry I can't see all of the photos either. Hope you can get that fixed for us. Take care and stay well.

  6. Hi, Leslie! I'm back! And WOW! those photos are incredible! Definitely worth the wait. Is the half-and-half tree something you grafted? My aunt actually had a tree that was half grapefruit and half lemons in St Petersburg FL. And the fruit was yummy! It was nearly always blooming or producing because they did not bloom or come to fruition simultaneously! The fur kiddos looked like they had a wonderful time while you and Rich did all the hard work. Your garden is definitely the place where dreams originate. I don't think you really grow much that can be grown here, so I always enjoy every wonderful photo you share! love, de

  7. hee hee oh the hose yes they do like the hose and water. They look healthy and happy as a clam which is perfect. The blooms are beautiful and I bet smell amazing. You guys can always just camp out in the drive way for a few days and make it feel like camping. Complain about the rowdy neighbors and what not. :-) hee hee Kidding. Enjoy a good book out back and the walks in the secret woody area. ;-) Hugs

  9. Love, love those double cherry blossoms, the pink is incredibly beautiful, no artist can ever replicate what Mother Nature does for our enjoyment.
The white cherry blossoms are just as beautiful, smaller yes! but none the less, proudly showing those milky white blooms.
The doggies look so happy drying in the sun, how fun to see them play with the water.
Leslie, I know how much you and Rich enjoy your trips with Wally and Lulu, so seeing your beautiful motor home just parked there is especially sad, let us all hope soon things can get to a more bearable state.
Meanwhile, stay healthy and safe and enjoy your blooming garden.
Sending hugs from a respectable distance.
    Maria.

  12. Wow, your cherry tree is gorgeous, love the ruffly double blossoms, and such a lovely shade of pink. Pretty interesting that it is half white and half pink. It's so nice to see your gardens starting to bloom, mine is very slow as we got snow thurs and friday and much colder temperatures. Next week looks a little warmer so hopefully that will help the plants bloom even more. Looks like Wally and Lulu really had a fun day, such beautiful babies they are. You know a few weeks ago I thought about your motor home, wondering if you will be able to use it this year. Lets hope so! Thanks for sharing your beautiful photos, I truly enjoy seeing them. Take care, Hugs

  13. Hi Leslie, your half and half tree is lovely and the dogs look like they had a great time. We are in Autumn here so nature is going into her golds, browns and yellow time and getting slowly colder. Will be time soon for me to start planting more bulbs ready for spring. We are in our 4th week of lock-down and tomorrow (Monday) we will hear whether we are still in lock-down or going down to Level 3 which is basically the same as Level 4 but with a bit of easing up of restrictions. Keep safe and well. Jeanette, New Zealand

  16. You have such a beautiful place to live Leslie!! The cherry blossoms are stunning!! Wally and Lulu look like they have had a great day, nothing a pup likes better then to get wet!! I understand about the travel this year, this is Greg's first year of retirement and not at all what we had in mind, but like you. thankful we are okay at this point and hope to stay that way!

  17. Thank you for the pictures. I always look forward to your pictures of the Pacific northwest being a transplanted Washingtonian. Our vegetation here in the desert of southern California is so different. I love the photos of Wally and Lulu just "being". I no longer have any four-legged"friends" at home, so I get my fix from your sweeties. Continue to stay healthy.

  18. Isn't it nice at times like this we can enjoy the beauty of nature in our own yards, our tree out back is done blooming, but we so enjoyed it while it was.
I think Lulu and Wally are enjoying spring time too :) Glad you are staying safe!

  19. Oh, you've shared such sweet and beautiful photos here, Leslie! I've never seen a cherry blossom that spectacular and I've never heard of half-white half-pink blossoms on the same tree! Learn something new everyday! You know I love any and all photos of your fluffy goldens! Our labs used to love playing in the water from the hose, too. I'm sorry about your camper. It does look bleak for this year; I'm just hoping we are back on an even keel and healthy by 2021. Funny, because as we neared 2020, I was (wrongly) anticipating it, feeling like it was going to be such a great year because I just loved the sound of 2020. Not so much anymore, lol! Keep staying safe! Hugs, Darnell
