The next photo is flowers in "casualty vases" on my kitchen windowsill. I have one or more casualty vases all summer just for the things that somehow get broken off. They turn into the prettiest arrangements.
Pictured below is a European Wool-Carder bee. I spotted him/her in the garden and found it a curiosity I've never noticed before. Easy enough to Google and learn it's relatively new to our area.
Finally, summer can't go by without a picture of a swallowtail. Look how raggedy the poor thing's wings are. Life can be rough.
We're heading out for a few more days of camping. I appreciate the chance to escape this relentless wind and the neverending housework. Wishing you a happy week!
BEAUTIFUL STUNNING FLOWERS. XX
ReplyDeleteThey're ALL beautiful!
ReplyDeleteEverything in your garden is so beautiful including that Wool Carder bee. Of course, I had to go loo it up and make sure it wasn't one of those "murder hornets." LOL! It was very interesting to read about the species. Your flowers are so lovely. It's nice to have fresh cut ones in the house.
ReplyDeleteI love your garden! I'm sure it's a lot of work, but the results are stunning! The beauty that surrounds you must make you joyful every day. What I would give to experience it.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are just GORGEOUS and yes Mr. Butterfly has had it rough lately it appears! I LOVE Alstromeria and used it every chance I could when I was doing floral design! I remember we would get it in from Canada and theirs had much larger blossoms ... it was gorgeous! I LOVE the color of yours ... what a HAPPY vase of flowers! Thanks! Made me smile ... I needed this floral pick me up today! Enjoy your get away adventure! Looking forward to the photos! OHIO HUGS coming your way!
ReplyDeletegorgeous flowers. interesting bee. I'm not up with that. a bee is a bee... At least the swallowtail can still fly. Have great few days camping
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your beautiful flowers! The deer are enjoying my lilies before I can get out to cut them this year. Enjoy your escape.
ReplyDeleteBeautyful photos. Love the yellow Peruvian lilies.
ReplyDeleteSuch GORGEOUS photos, Leslie!! Enjoy your camping. I'm jealous. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful flowers! I will have to steal the phrase - casualty vases! Joe is always bringing in some broken pieces. Right now I have 3 little casualty vases. Can't let that beauty go to waste. That poor butterfly - he has had a rough season. Enjoy your camping - stay safe.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful flowers, Leslie! I am in awe of your flowers. It's so hot here that blooms don't last long in the summer. Your casualty vases are such a beautiful mix and the vase full of bright yellow is so uplifting! Have fun camping. Sounds wonderful to me!
ReplyDeleteSo enjoyed your lovely flowers. That's neat you spotted something new to your yard! Wow that poor butterfly was pretty beat up wasn't he.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy your time away!!
Such beautiful flowers my friend. As I am getting older and unable to care for things like I used to my many flowers are no longer for me. I have a few huge pots that I plant petunias in and I always have ferns and that's about it. We have been so very hot here all during the month of July and we are all just looking for some relief!
ReplyDeleteWow, I am in awe of your flowers, so stunningly beautiful!! The butterfly sure went thru something didn't he, but still beautiful! Have fun camping, we just arrived back at the lake house until Friday this week, then back here on Sunday for the month of August, it's a lot of work back and forth but I am NOT complaining!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post. First of all, I was right about Alstromeria! They are glorious. Your casual flower arrangements are so pretty, especially with a touch of hydrangea (you know me!). You taught me about a new bee, the European Wool-Carder bee. Never heard of it. And that poor butterfly! Beautiful all the same, but as you say, life can be rough. Isn't that the truth. Reminds me of how wrinkles and sagging are privileges that the aged get to enjoy. They may not be beautiful in the traditional sense, but the fact that we've earned them speaks volumes.
ReplyDeleteLove all those wonderful flowers from your garden, it must look and smell amazing :)
ReplyDeleteI love when you share your awesome photos! You sound busy! I am too...we are moving my hubby into a studio for when he commutes to work. He will be mostly working at home though so thats good. We are also getting ready for our sons wedding this fall near here, so lots to do! I don't get much blogging time in as usual.Enjoy camping!
