Embracing Time

Hello again, and happy Saturday to all!  We went away again in August.  Just four days and only an hour's journey, but it was lovely.  As always, my favorite photo subjects are Wally and LuLu, and I'm especially fond of the portrait shots with just enough landscape showing to suggest their beautiful surroundings.

The first here is LuLu, framed by arching grasses and backed by deep shadow.  She's looking across a little stream at Wally.

And here's Wally looking back.

Rich and LuLu are standing alongside that little stream (click the pics for a better view).

The stream fed into this, the middle fork of one of our local rivers.

All the joy of raising our son, introducing him to new experiences and watching his face light up has, for the last several years, been transferred to Wally and LuLu.  To see them happy means everything to us.  Corny?  So be it.

Back at camp...  Little by little we're becoming acquainted with the best dog friendly RV parks, and the best sites in those parks to request when we call to reserve.  Look at all this space!  And that's just a smidgen of the space we had in this site.  We do not like the RV parks that are little more than a parking lot with no room to call your own.  Who wants to sit practically underneath the next RV's slide out sipping coffee in your bed head and jammies?  Not me!  In this end site we had plenty of privacy.

LuLu again:

The nice thing about these little getaways is time.  We all have it; the same number of hours in each day, but having time on your hands, time you can embrace, is a wonderful thing.  No reason to hurry.  Go at your own pace and, really, there's plenty to do, but it's not housework, laundry, grocery shopping, cooking, running errands, paying bills, keeping appointments...  We're planning another trip in early September.

See you next Saturday!  Have a happy day!

  2. That does look like a great place to camp. I know what you are talking about the parks that everyone is on top of you and you can't talk without the neighbors hearing everything. One of our favorite beaches has a place like that to camp and I just don't understand it. Your pics of your furbabies are too cute, calendar worthy ;) I do know what you mean we had just one daughter and our pets were just like family too, I still miss them so. Hope you enjoy your next outting too :)

  3. I always LOVE hearing about your adventures and your goldens are certainly enjoying their new home away from home too! I agree ... if you're wanting to be 'one with nature', you certainly don't want to be packed in like sardines! Beautiful photos my friend ... thanks for sharing and looking forward to your next adventure! Hugs & Happy Weekend!

  5. As always, I am so impressed with your photography and adventures. I agree with another viewer, several of these pictures are calendar-worthy. My favorite is both pups looking down at the water, and the next favorite is the first one of LuLu. So majestic!! Thanks for taking me along.

  6. LOL - your first fun photo of Lulu reminds me of The Big Game Hunter lurking in the grass, lol - she is part lioness, right down to the coloring. Leslie, being able to "embrace" is a wonderful gift - the feeling of timelessness or eternity - the feeling of belonging to a grand universal gift - it's amazing to breathe in and feel alive, isn't it? I often ask my husband how people who live in big cities and NEVER get to really see nature, how are they able to fully appreciate the fragility and vulnerability of our planet? How is it they can thrive and be happy without hearing a chirping bird in the mornings, or the trees laughing in the breeze as the sun goes down. Thanks for sharing your exploration photos, and the fun antics of Wally and Lulu. So how much time is spent combining the feathers on their tails, and detangling the burs out of them? Have you found a conditioner that works well in keeping their fur even softer and silkier than a Golden's actually is? hugs, de

  8. I love these pictures especially the ones with Lulu and Wallu looking back at each other. Sounds like you are having a great time! My daughter is also looking around for better camping sites as they hate being parked next to another RV without any room. We are planning in joining them soon so this will be interesting

  11. Oh my, you sure know how to take some fabulous pictures, to cherish for wonderful memories. I love the pictures of LULU, especially the very last one. She just melts my heart! Love them playing in the stream, I can tell how happy your heart is in your writing, seeing them enjoying themselves in the wonderful outdoors! Your camping area looks amazing, love all the open space you have, and I'm with you even though I don't camp, I wouldn't want my neighbors on my doorstep either. We went away yesterday up north 4.5 hr drive each was to see a rare Ontario bird - a Reddish Egret, he was a juvenile - probably first year, and obviously lost. It was worth the trip will have some pictures to share shortly. Thanks again for sharing your amazing pictures of your get-a-ways. Looking forward to seeming more after your next trip! Thanks Leslie.

  14. Fabulous photos of your 'kids" (hubby too). Since we have the Lake house that is where we go most of the time and I can relate to the relaxing. I used to take (or think about taking) some of my stamp supplies with me, but instead I enjoy the break from it. Beautiful scenery where you are and such happy Goldens!!
