Fall Color

Fall is already showing its colors, and how beautiful it is!  Truly, there's something to love about every season, isn't there?  Today I have a few photos taken on our September trip and, of course, I've got Wally and LuLu up first.  They posed nicely for me in front of this bush of rose hips, as pretty now as it was when blooming in the summer.  There are flowers growing all over this camp, looking quite natural in their setting.  I wish I'd photographed the hollyhocks when we were there in July.

With our preponderance of conifers here in the Pacific Northwest we don't get quite the fall foliage display you see in other areas, but where deciduous trees grow there's bound to be color.  In certain areas of McKenzie Pass, Oregon the maples, sumac, and conifers were taking a foothold in the lava beds and the contrast was quite striking.

We were unable to stop at some of the prettiest sites as we passed by the pull outs too quickly.  We were on our way home with a long drive ahead of us, but we did want to linger here and there to enjoy it.  In the photo below there's more lava bed showing.

Back at camp in eastern Oregon... we went for a long walk, exploring the area.  Apples on the branch speak "fall" very clearly.

Well, gee, here's Wally and LuLu again.  Can't take just one pic.

These don't look like happy faces, really.  They aren't thrilled about posing and they just want me to finish up and give them the treat I promised.  Sheesh, Mom.

I'll be back with more next Saturday.  Have a beautiful day!

  1. What a perfect way to start the day!! Any time you post photos of "our" fur babies is a terrific day!! You know how much I adore them! I just wished we lived closer so I could love on them in person ! At least I have the miniature schnauzer lives next door to me and I get to love on her every day ! I don't know which of us is happier when we meet up. Her tail wags so hard she walks sideways! I'm just starting to see fall colors here! Thanks for my morning smile!

  2. Gorgeous Fall colors, Leslie. We can't wait to see the Aspen Fall colors. It is a beautiful time of year. Our maple trees up the river are turning color more and more each day. The deer and our bear are enjoying the Fall apples too:-) TFS your photos my friend. Hugs...Nancy

  5. nice pics. those reds are glorious. We don't have enough reds here in Calgary. Mostly yellows and oranges. When I lived in Montreal, we had these glorious red maples. Miss that... Have a great day

  6. So beautiful. The colors are awesome. I do miss the change of leaves color that we had up in the Northeast. We get some down here, but not as breathtaking. Love seeing Wally and Lulu. They are sure in their element.

  9. What a great way to start my day with the Goldens! Your pictures really do capture the 'hurry up and take the pictures' kind of look, but they are excellent models! Great pictures Leslie. Gorgeous colours of the maples and great capture of the apples- don't they look delicious! Not much in the way of colour change in SW Ontario, but they are starting to change up north. Thanks for sharing Leslie, I always enjoy them. Have a wonderful day!

  12. I think Wally and Lulu look as if they've been swimming! The fall colors are beautiful...and great contrast with the lava beds. (I'm just guessing where you were in "eastern Oregon.") I'm struggling to get back into cards and blogging...really out of synch, for some reason. We leave again this week for another 10 days with the granddaughter and DIL in Hillsboro.

  14. Fabulous pictures of your fur babies and of the fall colors! When we were 'north' as we like to call it here in Michigan, the colors were really just starting, here not so much yet, but we do have the apples and I mean lots of apples, a good growing season in SW lower MI! Thanks for sharing those lovely pictures, as much as Fall is beautiful, it's kind of hard to wind down the summer isn't it?

  16. Beautiful leaves I agree. They look like they were swimming of some sort with their fur. And yes give me my treats for sitting so good. Wally almost looks skeptical in the last one, like wait a minute you said one photo. ha ha
