Hope Springs Eternal

Earth is waking up from a long winter's nap.  Pussy willows stretch and yawn and push out their soft-as-kitten-fur buds.

Rise and shine, English daisies!

Even the lowly skunk cabbage is all aglow and a sight for sore eyes.  Wish I looked that good in the morning!

Is your spring still sound asleep, or are you starting to see signs?

"The promise of spring's arrival is enough to get anyone through the bitter winter!"  ~  Jen Selinsky

Have a happy day!

  1. How I wish we were seeing signs of spring here! Nope, still the same beastly winter! We normally get around 25" of snow and this year we've already had 56"!

  2. These photos are amazing. I love the pussy willows and the skunk cabbage (never heard of skunk cabbage before). The english daisy makes me smile! Great captures Leslie! No unfortunately no sign of spring yet, just got up and there is snow on the ground again. The rain from this week took all of what we had away and now it's back! I so want spring to start. Next week looks above freezing so maybe soon. Have a happy day as well!

  3. Well, I guess I should be reading my email notifications in chronological order rather than from newest to oldest LOL I just left a comment on your other blog, not even noticing that it wasn't your "G&G" blog! LOL I'll let you read it there. Thank you for showcasing Nature's beauties against the "darkness" of winter! hugs, de

  4. GORGEOUS photos my friend!!! We were seeing a few signs of spring the past couple of days with the daffodils doing their best to pop up out of the ground but then this morning they were blanketed once again with a layer of snow and fallen temperatures! I can not wait to see the blossoms on my 100 year old crab apple tree (always such a gorgeous sight) but will have to wait closer to Mother's Day for that happy sight! Thanks for brightening my day though ... very appreciated since I'm in a bit of a slump today! BIG OHIO HUGS!!

  5. So beautiful. Spring is starting to poke out, but my flower beds need a lot of work. I am seeing the first buds of leaves on my fig tree. I can't wait to gather that fruit again this year. I just learned last year how yummy fresh figs were. Is skunk cabbage just an ornamental plant?

  6. Uuuhhh No spring for us as the snow hasn't melted yet. But it is starting too which is good since baseball has been delayed 3 weeks already. EEK! Gotta love mother natures sense of humor. The daisy makes me just smile, that flower is always perfect ya know. Looks like you have some spring time starting to show. Full bloom will be wonderful!

  8. The last of our snow in the city melted this week and we just hit mid teens to 20 deg (62-68) in Vancouver BC. Nice to see all those buds coming through. Wonderful photos :)

  9. Ahhh!! I sight for Winter sore eyes Leslie, what gorgeous pictures you're sharing today, really awesome!!!
Up here it's still Winter, it's been raining a lot and today, the Sun is finally out, no fierce winds and I actually heard the birds singing this morning. The little ground critters are busy out there too, I just hope soon I can see some color and feel the warmth of the Sun on my skin.
Thank you again for sharing these amazing pictures.

  10. Beautiful photos. Our wild Pussy Willows were always gray in color. And, only sign of Spring might be that we see some ground here and there where we had scraped away the snow.

  18. Thanks so much for sharing these great pictures! Our weather has warmed up a bit but there are still patches of snow/ice to remind us of the past few weeks. The good sign is that the robins are back!! There were about 50 of them in our year yesterday and that made me feel like spring has sprung!

  21. Your spring is better then mine ....haha! I'm jealous! But yes, I guess there are some signs up north...the weather is in the 40's..yay! And the snow is melting however it's hard to tell as there is so much this year. They have begun preparing sand bags in the red river valley...getting ready for flooding. It may get bad this year. But I am anxious for flowers and yours are beautiful!
