You’ve seen the Wally and LuLu cards I’ve made from Alexandra’s sketches. She’s also sent me some flower sketches. This is one of them:
She sketched these African Daisies from a photo on my blog. The sketch includes a fly on the petals, but I accidently colored over one of the wings and couldn’t correct it so I colored over the whole fly. I printed on Flourishes Classic White cardstock and colored with Copic markers. The sentiment is from Flourishes, and the designer paper is BasicGrey Kioshi.
Now, for the fun part – Alexandra has shared this sketch and others on her new blog for all to use. You can find this sketch here. But, please treat yourself by starting at her most recent post and scrolling through her artwork. You’ll find more free digitals as well as some pretty amazing sketches she’s done for herself. Serious talent there. I hope you enjoy!
Wow Leslie, absolutely sensational! Love the rich dark colors you used, really outstanding! I checked out Alexandra's blog and you are right, she is very talented! Thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteHi Leslie, I'm on my lunch break at work just now and thought I'd pop online . This was a lovely surprise. You've done a terrific job colouring this. I love the purple colours too. Nobody would know the fly had ever been on these pretty flowers (in hind sight maybe I should have omitted his presence anyway, they're prettier without him).
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting folks know I've started my blog. I plan to update more digi sketches regularly there. I'd love to see any finished projects using them. tfs

Oh Leslie! The coloring and shading on those flowers is just exquisite. SO glad I visited your blog today and didn't miss this beauty.
ReplyDeleteI want to say exactly what Susan (above) said. But she beat me to it.
ReplyDeleteThe colour combination is fabulous. I think it's my favourite. Wish I could use digital images. However, I find the ink runs when I colour the image and I am not in a position to either change my inkjet printer or my Tombows for something else. Not yet anyway. So I'll chug along merrily with what I've got.
This is SOOOO beautiful, Leslie! Daisies are my favorite:) and your coloring is awesome. Thanks for sharing the link to the wonderful image, too.
