This is a story about my Godson, Nando. As a puppy, Nando was living in squalor, left to run loose in the street, and given a good kick now and then “just because”. He was timid of most everyone, and thoroughly afraid of men, yet longing and hungry for any crumb of affection that might come his way. When another friend and I learned of his story we set ourselves on a mission to rescue this sad, sweet, gentle, loving, and forgiving soul. It wasn’t long before we had delivered him into the hands of his new Mom and Dad who would nurture away all his fears and bad memories. Nando’s a young adult now, living a happy, well-adjusted life. He’s pictured here with my friend, Kathy, the Mom every puppy dreams about.
No longer does he run loose in the street.
He’s living in the lap of luxury now.
He has toys to play with.
Friends to hang out with.
Fun adventures and activities.
He’s learned that not all men are bad.
He watches for his people with happy anticipation rather than fear.
He will live happily ever after.
Bless his sweet
little huge heart. Love you, Nando.
Thanks for sharing Nando's story Leslie. He is a handsome dog.
ReplyDeleteIf only all dogs could find a happy ending, what a wonderful world it would be! Kudos to your friends for saving him! He's one handsome boy!
ReplyDeleteI finished reading this with a tear in my eye and a smile on my face, I hate to hear about poor animals who are abandoned, neglected or abused. It makes my blood boil. I don't understand people who can do this. Nando is one of the lucky ones. He's lovely, healthy, well adjusted and happy now with his loving family and friends. Thanks for sharing his story with us.
ReplyDeleteLove this story. That's how it should be! I'll never understand how people can be unkind to dogs.
ReplyDeleteEven though this is a very happy story, I'm crying. So glad for Nando. Very well written, Leslie. Beautiful. Great photos as well.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful story! And I like the ending too. Thanks for sharing and starting my day (a Monday to boot) on a happy note!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful story! Thank you for rescuing him....wish all animals were loved and cared for as are Nando, Wally and Lulu.
ReplyDeleteI remember you mentioning his former situation a while ago, and I'm so glad to see the happy ending of that sad story. Thanks for sharing it. What a lucky, lucky dog to have such a friend as you, because you made it possible. Bravo, Leslie! Linda
ReplyDeleteGreat story and happy ending. Nando looks like a Border Collie cross, that coloring is very dominant, we have a cross. Great match for the family and dog. All dogs deserve a loving home.
ReplyDeleteBlack dog syndrome: They are the last ones to be adopted at shelters, same with cats. So if anyone is thinking of adopting, look at a black dog, they need lovin' too!
What a beautiful story, Leslie! So glad he was rescued!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful and heartwarming story. Thank you for sharing it. Sherylee.

ReplyDeleteAwwwwww. . . what a sweet story. I'm so happy that Nando has found a kind, loving place for his home with his forever family. Thanks for sharing that sweet story and all the adorable photos.
ReplyDeleteThanks Leslie. Would that all stories would have this wonderful ending.
ReplyDeleteOH, Leslie, you've brought tears to my eyes. I so hate to hear of animals suffering from anything bad at all. I am HAPPY that Nando has a good life now. And like Nimue said above my comment, it would be better if all stories had this wonderful ending.
ReplyDeleteI'm touched. Thank you for sharing Nando's story with us. He is one lucky little animal to have linked up with you and Kathy's family. I imagine that Kathy's family feel equally lucky to have linked up with Nando. With all my heart, I believe that people and societies will be judged by the way they treat their frail, and those not able to speak for themselves. This includes people and animals.
ReplyDeleteHurrah for happy endings and may there be plenty more of them.
