Hello! Thank you all so much for the warm welcome back on my last post. It’s good to be here and to be out visiting again.
I’ve been doing a mighty lot of stamping lately, not all of which will make it to the blog, but I do want to share this card so I can tell you about another great resource for free digital images to color. A friend directed me to a site called Dover Publications. The link will take you directly to where you can sign up for free samples. Each week they’ll email you a sampling of books. You can click on the books, particularly the ones that mention coloring, and there you will find sample images to save to your computer. It’s different every week, but I always come away with something I like. This is one of them.
The butterfly is a Great Spangled Fritillary and the flowers are Coreopsis. I love how the two coordinate in color. I printed on Flourishes Classic White Cardstock and colored with Copic markers. With a craft knife I cut around the petals of the uppermost flower in order to slip the sentiment panel behind it. I sanded CTMH cardstock and the designer paper for an earthy look. I hope you enjoy!
Sorry, no puppies today but bless your hearts for loving them as I do. Happy holidays to all!
Beautiful Leslie! Love the gorgeous rich colors you used and the beautiful background! Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteLove seeing your posts again. This is a beautiful card. Thanks for the link to the site - I'll sign up. I really like how you cut the top flower petals and placed the sentiment behind them. Hope your hubby is enjoying retirement.
ReplyDeleteThe colors on this are stunning!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful card. Ah, memories of summer looking at it. Snow is in the forecast for here. A different kind of 'fluttering' in the air.
ReplyDeleteGive a treat to those two lovable pups! Happy Holidays to you and your family.
love the image and coloring. Beautiful
ReplyDeleteI love the samples I get from Dover. Did you get a notification from Dover, about Dover Pictura? When you register you can get 3 free sheets of images - your choice.
Have a great day
Beautiful card, your colouring as always is stunning, I love the rich warm colours you've used (just what I need today with treacherous ice covered snow outside).
ReplyDeleteI love the variety you get from Dover. I signed up to Dover Pictura too when they first started a few months ago and have since purchased a few full books of images.
As they're instant downloads in many formats you can create straight away too. The cost per collection is very reasonable too and you can look through the images before you decide to buy. Give Wally & Lulu a hug from me. xx
Oh Leslie, your flowers and butterfly are so beautifully colored. I love your layout, dsp, sewing and how you cut around your petals so you could slip in your sentiment. Thanks so much for sharing my friend....
ReplyDeleteOh Wow, Gorgeous coloring of this image, I have a few of their stuff saved on my computer but have never used them. I so like how you cut out around the flower!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card. I used to subscribe to Dover, but I was very digitally challenged. Getting an IMac for Christmas, so think I'll try them again.
ReplyDeleteI wrote the name of the butterfly down. I always forget there are more to this beautiful insect than just monarchs. My family gets a kick out of when I use more specific names for things than the common name. They ooh and ahh that I know all my retrievers.
I love your card and the colors! Thanks for the cutting tip as well. I have never tried digital stamps - I'll check it out! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteOh, sure, Dover Publications! I've known about them for years, but never considered them for saving digital images. My girls love their paper doll and coloring books. They're really for grown ups, but the kids like 'em too.
ReplyDeleteThis image is SO pretty, Leslie. And of course, you are a master colorer, so this looks like it came this way!
Good to have you back on the blog, my friend. Warm Christmas hugs!!
Pretty, pretty card Leslie. Hope the puppies are well.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you got to stamp! Your card is just gorgeous! I signed up to get the free samples. Can't wait. Thanks again.

ReplyDeleteSo happy to see your two posts after your time off. Wonderful cards, beautiful pics as always, so glad to hear all is well in the Miller household, including two sweet golden retrievers. Always a joy when you post. Take care, especially with the big storm hitting the coast. It's already getting a bit more intense inland here in Sherwood, so I hope you hang in there over night.
