A little gift set for a friend’s birthday. She loves apples with a passion, so I’ve given her an apple tea towel and a jar of apple butter. All products were locally produced, including the card made by yours truly.
I used Flourishes’ Apple of My Eye stamp set, watercolored with inks. It’s very simple save for the coloring and cutting. The white cardstock has a texture similar to the tea towel.
I think, perhaps, a little basket with the tea towel draping and the jar and card nestled within its folds will be a nice way to present it. Just a little something. Hope you enjoyed!
Looks good enough to eat, your colouring as usual is perfect. Wishingyou all the very best here in Goldens and garden
ReplyDeleteHi Leslie,
ReplyDeleteYou are a genius with the watercolors! Those apples look so real that I feel as if I could pluck them off your page, all the way through my computer moniter way down in New Zealand! I love your work, and I try to copy your coloring - my attempts are nothing but a very pale shadow of your original. Thank you so much for sharing.
I love what you wrote about wanting your dogs to have the best life that a pair of Goldens could have - by the happy photos you have of them, I'd say you are succeeding beyond your wildest dreams.
Have a lovely day.
Hugs, Anne P.
Thank you for the invitation to visit you on your new blog. It looks pretty good to me and I expect to drop in regularly. When I saw the apples on your card, my first instinct was to pluck one off the branch and eat it. So realistic. Your colouring as always knocks my socks off. Best of luck with the new spin on your new blog.
ReplyDeleteLeslie, I love this gift idea and how you've colored it, just perfect! I like your new home on the web. It's nice, cozy and inviting.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome gift for the apple lover. You did such a great job capturing the true characteristics of the apple on your card and all three items (card, jar and tea towel) look perfect together. Congrats on your new blog and I will definitely continue to stop in, love hearing about your family (Wally and Lulu), which surprises the heck out of me because I'm generally NOT an lover of animals, but your two dogs have captured my heart.

So..do you ever get the feeling someone's following you? As you can see, I'm one of those who's made the jump to your new blog and look forward to whatever surprises you have for us. Speaking of surprises, I bet your apple-loving friend will enjoy such a thoughtful gift. Certainly has that Leslie touch.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes with this new adventure.
Leslie - thanks for the invitation to your new home! I had just shared your blog with a friend of mine, we stamp, but she's also involved in a golden retriever rescue group -- so I specifically sent her to you for the puppies! She loves your photos, stamping was just a lovely aside -- so I don't think you should have worried, but she was thrilled to be "in on" your move! Beautiful apples today - serendipitously, she and I and a couple other friends take a stamping retreat each October that just happens to coincide with the Apple Butter Festival! It's gonna be a great day today!
ReplyDeleteWherever you lead, I will follow ! :) I love your creative works - both in stamping and in the gardens.. And the Goldens -- well they are golden! Thank you for sharing your life with us ♥
ReplyDeleteOh gosh, I just may be your first comment on your new site!! I will certainly follow you to your new site. I love your creations and I love your puppies. I lost my 17 year old puppy 2 years ago this month, so I'm living vicariously through you. I understand the need for change, and change is usually a good thing. I have a feeling though, you may find that you miss it more than you thought. Best of luck to you and yours. You need to do what's best for you an your family. Now you'll have a chance to breathe......breathe that fresh garden air. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteThat is just beautiful! And the apple butter gift sounds yum too. Sherylee.
ReplyDeleteLove your new blog - I have just finished reading most of the entries (!). Of course the first was Wally and Lulu, then I viewed your garden. Absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMy very best wishes to you for taking the next step.

Let me be the first to wish you well in your new blogging home! Love your new approach. After all, it should all be about happiness! Love this gorgeous card too!
ReplyDeleteFantastic first post on your new blog, Leslie! Your coloring, as always, is outstanding. Those apples look absolutely 3D. Your followers are kindred spirits, and that's a good thing. Congratulations on making your transition to independence and felicity. Linda
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful. Not sure why you moved your blog but I'm glad you told us where!
ReplyDeleteLovely. The apples look good enough to eat. What a thoughtful gift for your friend.
ReplyDeleteI came here from your stamping blog after reading your most recent post. I did the same thing awhile back with the blog switcheroo. I found myself stamping because I felt obligated and not because it was what I wanted to do. Now that I have freed myself from that mentality, it has become more of a joy again--when I have the time to do it (I do have four sons to take care of!) I felt almost guilty every time I posted something non-stamping related so I threw in the towel there and started over at mypredilections.com. I lost a lot of readers--a lot--and it was kind of a disappointment to be honest, but in the end I guess I felt like it was worth it to be able to blog for myself about the things I love and which are important to me. I've loved your style ever since I first discovered you on SCS so consider me a loyal follower. And good luck with the new blog.
Cheers!

ReplyDeleteWhile I will miss your most wonderful card creations, I understand totally. You should create for fun and when you want to create. Pressure stuffs down creativity with some of us. Lovely card, as always.

ReplyDeleteI barely blog because of the pressure I put on myself to post something great. I'm with you on the simplifying. It does make life more fun. I will only blog if I'm in the mood. (it's been a while.)
Have fun and do what makes YOU.HAPPY.
Take care,
Debbie
all the best with your new blog... Love the apple card.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to miss seeing bunches of your artwork. I always get inspired by it, or it puts a smile on my face.
You know, just because you have a blog, doesn't mean you have to describe every detail of the artwork you upload. A blog is supposed to be a personal thing to do with what pleases you, not what pleases others. So hopefully you'll create a ton of stuff, and "JUST UPLOAD IT".
Have a great day.
I will check your blog daily no matter where it is, Leslie! I love your cards and I like the pictures of your dogs. And I think you are just about the sweetest person I know, and I have never even met you!
